Maral ‘Push’

Maral debuts on Leaving Records with Push, an album of protest and hope.

Maral says: "The history of Iranian music has a lot of melancholy in it. So much of Iranian history is sad. Since ancient times, Iranians were always fighting off invasions." Built on Iranian classical and folk samples, Push is a confident step forward from Maral's club and mixtape work into a powerful collection of original songs that bursts with a psychedelic energy, but also grapple with a somber undercurrent. Arriving at a pertinent time where tensions are rising between the USA and Iran, Maral's collage of sound is intended to reflect the injustice of the American government alongside the hope of societal progress, through the radical expression of protest music.

Maral's forthcoming debut album Push, out 14th October on Leaving Records
